Before long,
the 7th Sons were back and taking the stage by storm... not only
raising eyebrows here and there, but also making impressions as well
as new friends among the headlining performers they appeared in
concert with. AND, they were rapidly gathering both old and new
fans to their rockin'-blues musical camp.
In just a few short
months, this new incarnation of the 7th Sons have added several more
names to their previously accumulated list of national &
internationally touring artists.
|
|
Between
October 2010 and August 2011, the 'Sons' appeared with Eddie Money,
Eric Gales (2X), Savoy Brown, Johnny Winter, and Renegade Creation
(Robben Ford, Michael Landau, Jimmy Haslip & Gary Novak). When
coupled with the names that the band's members already have etched
into their personal histories, the list reads like a veritable Who's
Who of the Rock & Blues Music World!

7th
Sons / Night-Creatures Past History
(2006 - 2010):
The 7th Sons arose in January 2009 from the core of another band
known as the Night-Creatures, which began in January 2006. The
'Creatures', originally conceived by former band-mates Bill
McFadden (drums) & Tom Bellone (keyboards), took shape as
longtime friend and former bandmate of Bill's, Jim Jensen
(keyboards, guitar, vocals), joined and then followed by Elden Lisalda
(saxophone, vocals), and joined by Tony Oliphant
(bass) and Robert "Chalo" Ortiz (guitar). The band quickly jumped into the concert-dinner house
scene, appearing with legendary rock guitarist, Rick Derringer, at
their debut show in March of '06. As time passed, other
musicians such as Teddy Lee Hooker, Gary Cox, Monica Kitzerow, Paul
Lange, Shige Fukuyama, Art Espinoza, and others would join, either
temporarily or for a longer stay, & help the band
move forward, all the while searching for its proper nitch.
Nick Calandrino eventually joined the band, giving the sound a
harder, rock edge. Within this period, bassists Marc Michelli
& Rick Frost also joined the Night-Creatures, and 7th Sons,
respectively. Within a three-year time span, the band would
rack up an impressive list of shows and appearances with nationally
and internationally acclaimed rock and blues artists, such as the
afore-mentioned Derringer, Dave Mason, Leon Russell, Eddie Money, Mitch Ryder & The Detroit
Wheels, John Mayall & The Bluesbreakers, Eric
Burdon & The Animals, Martha Davis & The Motels, The
Marshall Tucker Band, Gary Hoey, Craig Chaquico, Vernon
Reid, Eddie Money, The
Blasters, Leslie West & Mountain, The Tubes, The Flying
Other Brothers with G.E. Smith (former guitarist for
Hall & Oates & the Saturday Night LIVE Bandleader
1985-1995), Coco Montoya, Johnny A, Billy Vera & The
Beaters, Terri Nunn & Berlin, Sean McNabb (Great White/Quiet
Riot), Billy Yates (The Outlaws/Marshall Tucker Band),
Jeff Scott Soto, Rod Piazza & The Mighty Flyers, Turn
The Page, and Savage City. In 2010, the 7th Sons
will start off by appearing with Surfin' Safari - A Beach Boys
Tribute, Sons Of Champlin (featuring Bill Champlin, the former
singer/keyboard player for Chicago), and Ambrosia. The band
has also appeared
at charity events such as Ride The Coast '08, a motorcycle
charity benefiting the Boys & Girls Club of Santa Ana, and
sponsored by AT&T, Taco Bell, SCE, The Gas Co., Waste Management,
Crevier BMW, and many more Orange County businesses, and the
American Cancer Society's - Relay For Life at the University Of
Irvine in 2007. In late 2009,
the band took
on two more talented players, John Sleeger on bass (replacing Rick
Frost), and Steven Artea on guitar, a 2nd guitarist to the band.
